Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan Manga Gets New Live-Action Movie

Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan Gets New Live-Action MovieThe live-action adaptation of Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan, the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure spinoff manga by Hirohiko Araki, seems to be quite the hit. The series, starring Issei Takahashi as Rohan, has had multiple episodes of television and even a movie, which was released in 2023.

Now a new movie from the same creative team is coming, and it adapts none other than the very first Kishibe Rohan manga chapter. The chapter, titled “At a Confessional,” was first published in 1997. The same story was adapted into an anime OVA in 2019. According to Takahashi, the film was shot on location in Venice. It’s set to hit theaters in Japan on May 23.

Here’s the official streaming description of the OVA version:

Rohan Kishibe is in Venice, Italy to do some research for his work. He takes interest in the confessionals that exist inside churches, and, for the sake of experience, decides to partake in a confession of his own, entering the wooden booth. However, a parishioner enters the confessional on the other side, and Rohan realizes that he has accidentally entered the booth where the parish priest is supposed to be. “Father, I have come to confess. I’ve committed a great sin.” Driven by curiosity, he decides to lend the man his ear. The confessor, in turn, begins a truly harrowing tale…
