Three Reasons to Pick up Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney — Again

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy

Big news for fans of shouty lawyers and puzzling mysteries: the Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney trilogy is now available on multiple gaming systems! This revitalized release combines the second three games of the series, along with a slew of special features. If you’re like us, there’s a good chance you already have all three games as originally released. But we’re more than a little enticed by this new version… and not just because we can enjoy all three games on our system of choice.

In addition to multiple languages and an art and video gallery, here’s what the re-release brings to the table:

Dig in to DLC

A whale of a case

Modern games are pretty much going to have DLC, and Ace Attorney in the modern day is no exception. The later games had two DLC cases and a whole catalogue of new outfits for your legal heroes. Now, though, all that downloadable content is standard!

Defend a friendly orca from murder charges in “Turnabout Reclaimed,” and visit a steampunk wedding in “Turnabout Time Traveler.” Plus, trick out the Wright Anything Agency in new clothes — including stylish streetwear for Apollo and Nick’s “heartfelt” sweater from Trials and Tribulations.

An Adorable Orchestra

Orchestra Hall

The Ace Attorney games have some fabulous music, and it’s not uncommon for a game to sport its soundtrack as an extra. But this new trilogy release goes the extra mile, both visually and audibly. The Orchestra Hall function lets you play BGM from across the series, but that’s not all. It’s also loaded with orchestral tracks from the series’s live concerts!

But as far as we’re concerned, the visualizer is the kicker. Your music plays on a screen designed to look like a stage (tricked out like a courtroom, of course). A chibi Phoenix, Apollo, Trucy, and Athena are all dressed in their concert best, making the game’s jukebox a treat for both the eyes and ears. And speaking of fun animation…

Make Your Own Scenes

Animation Studio

Apparently Capcom has noticed what Ace Attorney fans have been on up to on YouTube all these years. Inventive video game enjoyers have made their own skits using the game’s sprites… but now it’ll be easier than ever. Packaged with the trilogy is an Animation Studio function, which lets you create your own scenarios!

You’ll be armed with character sprites and animations, backgrounds, BGM, and even voiced lines to play with. The trilogy’s copy states this will enable us to “place characters in situations unthinkable in the main games.” Which is an awesome concept, but also a bold claim considering one of the things you can do in this very release is defend an orca from murder charges. But we believe in the inventiveness of Ace Attorney fans.

The Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy is available now for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, XBox One, Windows, and Steam.
