Cosplayers and fans of Violet Evergarden just received some useful information: how to braid your hair to look like Violet’s. This information comes to us from the production staff, and they revealed it through the official Violet Evergarden Twitter account. It turns out that when Kyoto Animation was working on Violet Evergarden I: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll, they drew up a diagram on how to get her hair right to help the artists. But the diagram in turn shows people the movements step-by-step, so it can also help other people style their hair this way. Even if you can’t read Japanese, you can still see what happens in the drawings.

The franchise started out with Violet Evergarden novels by writer Kana Akatsuki and artist Akiko Takase. The TV anime adaptation of it debuted in 2018. Then there was the movie, Violet Evergarden I: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll (or Violet Evergarden Gaiden: Eien to Jidō Shuki Ningyō in the original Japanese), which came out in 2019. This was followed by Violet Evergarden: The Movie in 2020. All of these are available on Netflix, with Violet Evergarden: The Movie just being added last month.
Netflix gave this description for Violet Evergarden I: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll:
“A lonely young woman feels trapped at her all girls’ school. But metal hands and heartfelt letters warm her heart when Violet becomes her tutor.”
If you try out Violet Evergarden’s hairstyle based on this, let us know how it goes! Good luck, Violet Evergarden cosplayers!
