An indefinite hiatus is on order for Subaruichi’s The Legendary Hero is Dead! The Land of the Gods manga, which is a spinoff of the main The Legendary Hero is Dead! manga. As announced via the staff of Shogakukan’s Manga ONE app, the series is going on break due to the author’s illness. Subaruichi needs long-term rest, and as such there is currently no return date.
The spinoff first launched on the app in May 2022, and has one compiled volume on shelves as of March 17, 2023. The staff will announce a return date on the app and official Twitter account when it’s been decided.
Subaruichi’s The Legendary Hero is Dead! manga ran in Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday web comic magazine from December 2014 to December 2020, and the TV anime adaptation is set to kick off today. Shogakukan Asia licensed the series and describes it like so:
Touka is just your average (slightly perverted) farmer in the village of Cheza. While he daydreams about being a hero and getting the girl, the real hero, Sion, is out battling demons that threaten to invade the world! But one day, Touka accidentally kills the hero…?! With the Legendary Hero dead, who’s going to save the world now?! Touka quickly buries Sion’s body to hide the evidence, but wakes up the next day to discover he is no longer in his own body…!!
