The Legendary Hero Is Dead! Drops New Key Art, Cast AnnouncementsEarlier this year, we learned an anime series based on Subaruichi’s The Legendary Hero is Dead! manga was on the way in spring 2023.

Now we’ve learned who’s playing three of the main characters, and we’ve got some fresh key art, too.

The newly revealed cast members are:

Ayana Taketatsu as Anri
Hibiku Yamamura as Yuna
Yurika Kubo as Marguerit

In addition, body-swapping main character Touka Scott will be played by Wataru Kato and Shunichi Toki, with Toki also voicing Sion Bladan, the titular dead hero.

The anime has Rion Kujo (s-CRY-ed) directing, with Kanako Nishi and Yukio Kondō of MOKA☆ composing music and Tohokushinsha on sound production for the LIDEN FILMS production.

Subaruichi’s The Legendary Hero is Dead! manga originally launched in the Ura Sunday web magazine back in December 2014 and ran until December 2020, ultimately being collected in 20 volumes. Shogakukan Asia describes the story like so:

Touka is just your average (slightly perverted) farmer in the village of Cheza. While he daydreams about being a hero and getting the girl, the real hero, Sion, is out battling demons that threaten to invade the world! But one day, Touka accidentally kills the hero…?! With the Legendary Hero dead, who’s going to save the world now?! Touka quickly buries Sion’s body to hide the evidence, but wakes up the next day to discover he is no longer in his own body…!!
