We have some sad news to report today, as anime director Tatsufumi Ito has passed away. According to the announcement his wife Mariko Ito made on his official Twitter account, the director passed away on May 23 due to a brainstem hemorrhage at just 55 years old.
Tatsufumi Ito has been working on anime since 1990, taking on jobs ranging from animation director on Magical Taruruuto-kun to work as storyboarder, key animator, episode director, and more on a variety of productions. He directed episodes of Princess Tutu and was animation director on episodes of Gasaraki, among others, but is particularly well known for directing the first season of Satelight’s Senki Zessho Symphogear anime.
