Studio Ponoc’s Mary and the Witch’s Flower Gets Second Trailer

Of all the anime films coming out this year, this may be the one we’re most looking forward to.

It’s Mary and the Witch’s Flower from Studio Ponoc, a bunch of folks who used to work at Ghibli and have made what looks like a very Ghibli-esque film. Need proof? Check out the second trailer, which just hit the net.

In addition, a few new cast members have been revealed. They include Fumiyo Kohinata, Yuki Amami, Hikari Mitsushima, Eri Watanabe, Shinobu Otake and Jiro Sato, all of whom are better known for their work in live-action film than anime – a definite Ghibli-style casting decision.

Mary and the Witch’s Flower is directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi (When Marnie Was There) and produced by Yoshiaki Nishimura (Princess Kaguya).

The film will open July 8 in Japan, and has been licensed for release in the U.K., Australia and New Zealand. No U.S. license has been announced yet.
