Slam Dunk Getting New Anime Movie

Slam Dunk is returning to the big screen!

The highly successful franchise started out as a 31-volume manga series (currently published in America by VIZ Media). This led to an anime series and some films. Now, twenty-one years after the manga’s debut, a new movie has been announced.

Takehiko Inoue, the creator, shared this news as a tease on Twitter:

As of this writing, almost 200,000 people have shared the tweet and nearly 350,000 have liked it. Though there is very little information available, Anime News Network has reported the movie will be an anime, not live action, and that Toei Animation will be behind it.
