Very sad news arrived this week out of the official staff Twitter account for Maon Kurosaki. The singer has been suffering from a chronic illness, and she suddenly passed away from its effects on February 16 at the age of 35.

According to the official statement, Kurosaki passed suddenly while discussing her next film and other future projects. Back in September, she collapsed during a live stream and underwent emergency surgery for epidural hematoma.

Kurosaki’s family has already held a private funeral.

Singer Maon Kurosaki made her major debut back in 2010 with the album H.O.T.D., which included all of the ending themes from the High School of the Dead anime that she performed. She also provided the ending theme songs for the A Certain Magical Index II anime—”Magic∞World” and “Memories Last”—which were her first two major singles.

Her career in anime songs only grew from there, ranging from titles like The Fruit of Grisaia to Dances with the Dragons, Accel World: Infinite Burst and more. Most recently, she performed the “More Strongly” ending theme for the Reincarnated as a Sword anime, which was released as her latest single on November 16, 2022.

Our thoughts go out to the family, friends, colleagues and fans of Maon Kurosaki.
