Shinya Tsukamoto Branches Out with Animated Short

Most well known for his inimitable 1989 film, Tetsuo: The Iron Man, director Shinya Tsukamoto could definitely be called a visual powerhouse.

Though his latest theatrical effort—the third in the Tetsuo series, Tetsuo: The Bullet Man—has been met with mixed critical appraisal, Tsukamoto has something fresh up his sleeve next.

The director has taken to animation this time, with a hand-drawn, 24-second promo for the Ca’ Foscari Cinema in Venice. If there’s one thing I would have liked to see Tsukamoto get into long ago, it’s animation.
