A TV anime adaptation was revealed for Keigo Maki’s romantic comedy manga Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie back in January, and now we have a release month for the series. In addition to an April 2022 premiere date, the latest update revealed the key cast and staff members, as well as the first teaser visual.
The lead roles of Shikimori and her boyfriend Izumi go to Saori Onishi (Ais in Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) and Shuichiro Umeda (Makoto in The World Ends with You), respectively.
Ryota Ito (My Senpai is Annoying) is directing the Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie anime, with Shohei Yamanaka (episodes of Dropout Idol Fruit Tart) as sub-director. Yoshimi Narita (My Senpai is Annoying) is on series composition and Ai Kikuchi (How heave are the dumbbells you lift?) is handling anime character designs for production house Doga Kobo.
Here’s the teaser visual:
Kodansha USA publishes the Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie in English and describes it:
Shikimori and Izumi are high school sweethearts. They hold hands walking home from school, they flirt in the halls, they tease each other. But Shikimori knows what she wants, and how to get it, and she can turn from cutie to cool in an instant.
