shaman king x ghostbusters

Sony Pictures is getting ready to release Ghostbusters: Afterlife in in Japan, and there’s a very appropriate collaboration to get anime fans excited and into theaters for the occasion. This particular cross-promotion has Ghostbusters linking up with the new Shaman King anime, based on the manga by Hiroyuki Takei, resulting in a special clip on YouTube that has the Shaman King characters talking about some of the film’s highlights.

In addition to this promo, some of the Shaman King cast members are even featured in the Ghostbusters: Afterlife Japanese dub. Yoko Hikasa (Yo Asakura) voices Lucky Domingo, Minami Takayama (Hao Asakura) voices Podcast, and Romi Park (Tao Ren) voices Callie Spengler. Watch as they explain Ghostbusters: Afterlife to Yo, who hasn’t heard of it, along with Katsuyuki Konishi (Amidamaru), Inuko Inuyama (Manta Oyamada), and Megumi Hayashibara (Anna Kyoyama) below.

Here’s what Yoko Hikasa had to say about the collaboration:

“‘SHAMAN KING’ came back to life after 20 years, and so did ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife,'” … And I felt that the keyword was to take over the soul and revive it. A mysterious connection between spirit and spirit, soul and soul. I’m so happy that we’ve been able to realize a collaboration that will please all the fans who’ve supported the two series for so long, all the people who’ve been waiting for them! I hope you will enjoy these two series that have encountered together at the same time in 2022.”

The new Shaman King anime is currently streaming on Netflix.
