The latest entry in the series of Space Battleship Yamato 3199 anime film remakes is Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199 (Yamato yo Towa ni: Rebel 3199), and now you can see how it kicks off. The second film, Sekijitsu no Shutsugeki (The Assault of the Burning Sun) opens in Japan this Friday, so the staff went ahead and shared a video previewing the first nine minutes of the feature.

As a bonus to theatergoers, select theaters will be offering a limited edition Blu-ray as an incentive during the run. The retail version of the film will follow on Blu-ray and DVD in Japan on January 29, 2025.
Naomichi Yamato (episodes of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) is directing, with Harutoshi Fukui on scripts and supervision, writing alongside Hideki Oka. Nobuteru Yuki handles character designs for the Studio Mother production.

The power-hungry Gamilas have taken over Earth, and only a distant planet has the key to save humans from extinction.
