We here at the Otaku USA News Dome are not shy about our love for Satoshi Kon, the great anime director who brought us Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers and Paranoia Agent. He was pretty much the best, and we were all incredibly bummed out after he passed away at the end of 2010.
Thankfully, we are not alone in our appreciation of Kon’s works, and Japanese publisher Kadokawa Shoten is going to be offering a gorgeous art book dedicated to showcasing work from throughout the director’s career.
Details haven’t been completely nailed down yet, but according to Kon’s Tone, the book — titled “Kon’s Works – 1982-2010” — is going to be 128 pages, and will include never-before-seen storyboards, sketches and other artwork, including a number of pieces from when Kon was still attending university. The book will retail for 3600 yen (about $36 as of this writing).
Needless to say, we hope to have a review of the book available for you to read following its release later this year.
