If you’re old enough, you might remember the 2014 founding of the anime studio Signal.MD. The studio was founded by IG Port, which is the holding company that also runs Production I.G.
Well, after a decade of animating, Signal.MD is saying goodbye, sort of. The studio will be absorbed into its older brother Production I.G in order to “improve and enhance the profitability of the entire group by effectively utilizing the management resources of the two companies.”
The original remit of Signal.MD was to produce fully digital animation and animation for kids. Some notable anime created by the studio include FLCL Progressive, Nina the Starry Bride, Napping Princess and Birthday Wonderland.
Other companies under IG Port are Wit Studio and publisher Mag Garden.
