Ahead of the new Overlord anime film’s premiere sometime in 2024, the project will have a presence at next month’s AnimeJapan 2024 event. We’re still waiting on a concrete date for Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom—hey, maybe at AnimeJapan!—but for now you can check out the dramatic fall of Ainz Ooal Gown below.
Much like with Re:ZERO season 3, there’s also an AnimeJapan 2024 visual for Overlord. The visual will serve as the basis for exclusive merch, from standees to wall scrolls, at the AnimeJapan Kadokawa booth over the March 23-24 weekend.
The latest big screen outing follows the act of a pair of compilation films—Overlord: The Undead King and Overlord: The Dark Warrior—that debuted back in 2017.
Based on the light novel series by Kugane Maruyama and so-bin, the Overlord anime is directed by Naoyuki Itou and produced at anime studio MADHOUSE. All four seasons are currently streaming on Crunchyroll, which describes it like so:
When a popular MMORPG is scheduled to be shut down permanently, veteran player Momonga refuses to log out. As NPCs begin to develop personalities and minds of their own he decides to put his skills to use as the game’s new overlord.
