Overlord Anime Recaps First Four Seasons Ahead of Movie


The Overlord anime filmOverlord: The Sacred Kingdom—is scheduled to premiere in Japan this fall, so now is a great time to get caught up with the series as a whole. The Kadokawa Anime Channel YouTube account is helping fans do so with a seven-minute digest video that briefly touches upon the many events of the anime’s first four seasons.

The video below is all in Japanese, but it still might prove beneficial as a refresher for those who haven’t watched Overlord in a while.

Based on the light novel series by Kugane Maruyama and so-bin, the Overlord anime is directed by Naoyuki Itou and produced at anime studio MADHOUSE. All four seasons are currently streaming on Crunchyroll, which describes it like so:

When a popular MMORPG is scheduled to be shut down permanently, veteran player Momonga refuses to log out. As NPCs begin to develop personalities and minds of their own he decides to put his skills to use as the game’s new overlord.
