One Piece had delays earlier this year because of the coronavirus, and Weekly Shonen Jump recently announced that there will be no new chapter in the next issue because of creator Eiichiro Oda’s “sudden illness.”

According to Anime News Network, Oda’s illness was not specified, but we were assured he is in the process of recovering. He’ll be away for issues 44 and 45, and that his work will be coming back for issue 46. That means we can expect to see more on October 17.
One Piece has been going on since 1997 and is the bestselling manga of all time. Oda expects to end the series within the next four or five years, and we all wish him the best in his recovery.
