One Piece Joins Toonami Anime Block

Toonami held a panel at this weekend’s MomoCon, and they had a doozy of an announcement to make regarding new additions. The biggest reveal was the confirmation of One Piece joining the anime block’s lineup, with FUNimation’s dub of the Straw Hats’ adventures set to debut on Toonami later this year.

One Piece isn’t exactly new to Toonami, but its return has been in high demand. The anime adaptation of Eiichiro Oda‘s series was previously broadcast as part of Cartoon Network’s Toonami block in 2007, coming to a close in 2008 after the end of 4Kids’ version.

In addition to One Piece, Toonami will run the Evangelion 1.11 cut of Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone next Saturday night in celebration of the revived block’s first birthday.
