In 2021, 27 animated movies were submitted for Oscar consideration, including six anime movies: Earwig and the Witch, Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train, Lupin III THE FIRST, ON-GAKU: Our Sound, Ride Your Wave, and A Whisker Away.
Today the Oscars announced their official list of nominees, and no anime movies made it.
The movies nominated for Best Animated Picture are Onward, Over the Moon, A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon, Soul, and Wolfwalkers.
The Oscars will take place April 25.
