New Trailer for Crowdfunded In This Corner of the World Film

In This Corner of the World (Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni) is an upcoming film from animation studio MAPPA and director Sunao Katabuchi (Black Lagoon).

Successfully crowdfunded earlier this year to the tune of ¥3.6 million (about $300,000), In This Corner of the World, based on a manga by Fumiyo Kono, is about the “humble daily life” of a woman in Kure, Hiroshima in 1945.

Now we’ve got a look at the film courtesy of a trailer that started streaming this past Saturday.

In the trailer, we see scenes of daily life in Hiroshima, but also life interrupted by war, as planes ominously fly past.

The song, for those curious, is “Kanashikute yarikirenai” by singer Kotringo.

In This Corner of the World will premiere next year.
