Last year it was announced that the Sgt. Frog anime would be returning with a 20th anniversary project, and now we have more information and an idea of when to expect it. The project is an all-new feature film, which is currently set to premiere in summer 2026.

Yuchio Fukuda (director of live-action projects like Gintama and Saint Young Men) writes and serves as general director, with Fumitoshi Oizaki (character designer for Sgt. Frog since 2004) directs and Satoshi Koike provides character designs for the BN Pictures production.

ano has been named promotion caption for the 20th anniversary project, and you can hear her singing a new version of “Mata Kaettekitakero! to March” with Japanese comedian Soshina in the “super teaser trailer” below.

The 20th anniversary reflects that of the anime adaptation, which is based on Mine Yoshizaki’s manga that has been serialized in Kadokawa’s Monthly Shonen Ace magazine since 1999. The first anime aired for 357 episodes from April 2004 to April 2011, with Discotek Media releasing it all on home video and describing it like so:

Keroro is Sergeant Frog – the leader of a platoon of warriors sent to conquer planet Earth. But when the amphibious invaders discovered how much humans enjoy dissecting their comrades, the troops were scattered, the mission was aborted, and Keroro was abandoned. Now, this once proud soldier spends more time wielding a vacuum than he does the weapons of war. It’s a far cry from the glory of battle, but hey, at least he’s got his own room. And though the invasion may have slowed to a hop, Sergeant Frog still occasionally yearns to overcome his karaoke addiction and reassemble his troops.
