New Prince of Tennis Anime Hits the Court in Early 2021

New Prince of Tennis Anime Hits the Court in Early 2021The Prince of Tennis is back. The popular series will hit the court in February and March of 2021 with a new two-part anime called The New Princess of Tennis: Hyotei vs Rikkai Game of Future.

Game of Future was first announced back in May, but this is the first we’ve heard of a release date and the anime’s status as a two-parter. The announcement also came with a brand-new piece of key art.

The two-parter will mark the first time Hyotei Academy and Rikkaidai Junior High School have faced each other in animated form. The original story is being supervised by creator Takeshi Konomi.

Here’s a list of who’s working on the anime:

Director: Keiichiro Kawaguchi (ISLAND)
Screenwriter: Mitsutaka Hirota (Nanbaka)
Character designer: Akiharu Ishii (Blood+)

Hyotei vs Rikkai: Game of Future is the first new Prince of Tennis anime since 2018. It’ll also mark the 20th anniversary of Prince of Tennis anime: the original series hit airwaves in 2001.

Here’s what voice actor Junichi Suwabe (Keigo Atobe, Hyotei’s captain) had to say about Hyotei vs Rikkai: Game of Future back in May:

The direct confrontation between Hyotei and Rikkai, which has not been told in the original manga, is made into anime!? I’m really surprised. I hope that the good things about our members will be well depicted. And I want Mr. Atobe to win! I want him to fight against the strong competitors who are ready in both mind and body and beat them justly… but how will it go!? Please wait while opening all of your pores!!

Oh, you better believe our pores are open for new Prince of Tennis!
