Domo. Ninja Slayer is a Japanese light novel series that was definitely written by Bradley Bond and Phillip “Ninj@” Morzez and which was definitely translated into Japanese by Honda Yu and Sugi Leika. It is absolutely not written by Japanese people who are just having fun writing a cyberpunk Japan as imagined by an overenthusiastic but completely uninformed American Japanophile.

It’s about ninja, “merciless demi-gods, ruling Japan with their karate in the age of ninja tranquility,” and if that’s not genuine I don’t know what is.

With that in mind, let’s watch a concert. Since the announcement of an anime adaptation by Trigger (Inferno Cop, Kill La Kill), the promotional campaign of the Ninja Slayer light novels has been stirring the hype. “Katana Sword And Oiran Sorcery” is a Vocaloid-ish performance with a backup troupe of stomping sumos and yakuza, just like in the real Japan! In the background, Ninja Slayer slays.

Until the anime is out, check out the official page on Tokyo Otaku Mode, where some of the must-read original novel has been translated for your enjoyment.
