Ken Akamatsu (Love Hina, A.I. Love You) has a couple of very popular series under his belt, the most recent of which, Negima! Magister Negi Magi, came to an end about a year ago. Now the author is gearing up for his next series, with plans to debut the manga this summer.
Akamatsu didn’t divulge any details about the manga, but his comments on future plans show that even the most accomplished creators aren’t completely certain about what’s next in life.
“It’s really hard to produce three hits in a row. I think I’ll retire when the next manga is over,” He said. “I want a job like advertising books as a publishing agent or publishing e-books. Originally, I wanted to be an editor, since I like making creative environments for authors.”
Outside of his own manga, one of Akamatsu’s contributions came in the form of his website J-Comi, which lets users read out-of-print manga for free, with profit from advertising going directly to the original creators.
