Natsume’s Book of Friends Gets Theatrical Film in 2018

natsume's book of friends film

After six seasons of anime, Natsume’s Book of Friends continues to be a fan favorite, and said fans will be happy to hear the series will be getting a feature film next year.

Not much about the film has been revealed yet, but we do know it will be animated at studio Shuka, who produced seasons 5 and 6 of the series, and will star series regulars Hiroshi Kamiya and Kazuhiko Inoue as Natsume and Nyanko-sensei.

Natsume’s Book of Friends started life as a manga by Yuki Midorikawa, which has been running since 2005. It’s published in the U.S. by Viz Media, who describes the story like this:

Takashi Natsume can see the spirits and demons that hide from the rest of humanity. He has always been set apart from other people because of his gift, drifting from relative to relative, never fitting in. Now he’s a troubled high school student who has come to live in the small town where his grandmother grew up. And there he discovers that he has inherited more than just the Sight from the mysterious Reiko.

Here’s looking forward to some theatrical Natsume and friends in 2018.
