My Dress-Up Darling Manga Adds 1 Million Copies to Circulation Since Anime Debut

my dress-up darling

The My Dress-Up Darling anime is a bonafide hit with fans, so naturally that means increased numbers for Shinichi Fukuda’s original manga. Thanks to the good ol’ anime bump, the manga’s circulation has increased by an impressive one million copies.

With that number, the total amount of My Dress-Up Darling volumes—both in print and released digitally—comes to 4.5 million. At the start of the year, just before the anime aired, the series was at 3.5 million, so the results are pretty clear.

Manga author Shinichi Fukuda celebrated the news on social media and thanked fans for their support while praising the “awesome” anime staff and sales situation.

The My Dress-Up Darling anime is currently streaming on Crunchyroll and Funimation. Here’s the official synopsis:

Wakana Gojo is a high school boy who wants to become a kashirashi–a master craftsman who makes traditional Japanese Hina dolls. Though he’s gung-ho about the craft, he knows nothing about the latest trends, and has a hard time fitting in with his class. The popular kids–especially one girl, Marin Kitagawa–seem like they live in a completely different world. That all changes one day, when she shares an unexpected secret with him, and their completely different worlds collide.
