Junta Shima’s Murai in Love romantic comedy manga came to an end on June 13, but as the latest announcement states, “Murai & Friends will return in the animation.” That’s right, an anime has officially been unveiled for the series, with more information to come on the project in the (hopefully near) future.
At this time, we don’t know what format the anime will be, or who will be working on it behind the scenes. The manga previously inspired a live-action drama, which is currently airing in Japan on TBS’s drama programming block.
The seventh and final collected volume of the manga launched today in Japan, timed perfectly with the adaptation news. The series follows a high school teacher who loves otome games named Tanaka, and a high school boy named Murai who is in love with Tanaka. Murai confesses but is rejected by Tanaka, who has never been in a real-life romance before. This might change, however, when Murai makes a move and transforms himself into the exact likeness of a beloved character from Tanaka’s favorite otome game.
