The Grisaia Phantom Trigger anime is now underway as part of the Winter 2025 anime season! The latest chapter in the Grisaia visual novel universe comes to life as Rena, Haruto, and their classmates train up to wreak extrajudicial havoc on the seedy underbelly of Japan. If you find yourself wanting more gun-blasting action in between episodes… well, firstly, we don’t blame you. And secondly, we’ve got you covered!
Here are three more anime you can marathon right now, featuring more girls with guns. From convicts to pirates to “café” employees, get to know these dangerous ladies as you wait for the next Grisaia episode!
Black Lagoon
Nearly a decade before the roots of Grisaia Phantom Trigger were even established, Revy Two-Hand was sailing around the world with her band of modern-day pirates. The Black Lagoon manga premiered in 2002, with an anime adaptation following four years later. The series follows Rock, a salaryman turned pirate, as he serves as a translator for a dangerous band of mercenaries known as the Lagoon Company. The most dangerous amongst them, of course, is the gun-toting Revy.
But she’s not alone. As the series continues, you’ll meet the killer maid Roberta, Russian crime syndicate boss Balalaika, and so many more. And if you love the anime, you can continue the adventure with the manga—it’s still updating!
Lycoris Recoil
Grisaia Phantom Trigger has won a lot of loyal fans as a visual novel, but a certain action-packed series won the praise of video game auteur Hideo Kojima! Lycoris Recoil is notable for its worldbuilding and storytelling, and could easily stand on its own. But the series came to many people’s attention after the Metal Gear and Death Stranding creator recommended it. And he’s definitely on to something.
The series follows Lycoris, an all-girl group of secret agents who work to prevent crimes. In particular, it focuses on the duo of cheerful Chisato and level-headed Takina. Café LycoReco, where the two work together, is anything but your normal café. The whole series so far is available to stream, so now is a great time to discover what so many people love about this series!
Michiko & Hatchin
The girls of Grisaia Phantom Trigger have a whole organization backing them up. But sometimes, a team is just an escaped convict and a little girl she rescued. That’s the core of Michiko & Hatchin, an original anime series directed by The Woman Called Fujiko Mine‘s Sayo Yamamoto. Michiko Malandro has just effected yet another daring escape from a high-security prison. On her way out this time, though, she kidnaps Hana: the daughter of her former lover. The girl, whom she nicknames “Hatchin,” might be in better hands with Michiko. Her foster parents were… not the best.
Now, Michiko and Hatchin set out to find Hiroshi Morenos—Michiko’s lover and Hatchin’s father. Officially he’s dead, but the two have reason to believe he’s still out there. As they search him out, they dodge the law together.
Grisaia Phantom Trigger is now streaming on Crunchyroll.
