Back in April it was announced that Initial D creator Shuuichi Shigeno would be putting his sequel manga MF Ghost back on hiatus shortly after it had returned from another break. The frequent stops were due to the author’s poor health, but the good news is the series officially has a return date.
According to this year’s 28th issue of Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine, the MF Ghost manga will return to its pages in the 29th issue, which hits stands in Japan on June 19.
While the series is entering its “final battle,” Shigeno previously said he’s nervous as to whether or not he’ll be able to draw it up to the conclusion. Here’s hoping he’s feeling in better health at the moment.
Shigeno’s MF Ghost manga has a TV anime adaptation on the way in 2023. Kodansha USA publishes the manga—which first launched in the pages of Weekly Young Magazine in September 2017—and describes it below.
The author of Initial D has roared back onto the track with another hit! In a near future where cars have mostly switched over to sustainable power, combustion engine racing is a rarity. The MFG is the last major race for this dying breed, and half-Japanese Kanata Rivington has come back to try his luck. But that’s not all he’s come to Japan to do…he’s searching for his father, too. Can even the ambitious Kanata accomplish all he’s set out to do?
