Mari Okada’s Alice and Therese Film Drops Trailer, Release DateAlice and Therese’s Illusory Factory, the new original film from Mari Okada (Maquia) was first announced back in 2021. We haven’t heard much since then… until today. Now we’ve got a teaser trailer, key art, cast details, and a release date: September 15, 2023 in Japan.

The film, which takes place in a town in which time has stopped, centers around a middle school student named Masamune, whose encounter with two mysterious girls upsets the balance of the world.

The film, which is being animated at MAPPA, features the following cast:

Junya Enoki as Masamune Kikuiri
Reina Ueda as Atsumi Sagami
Misaki Kuno as Itsuki

The staff includes:

Character designer/chief animation director: Yuriko Ishii
Art director: Kazuki Higashiji
Music: Masaru Yokoyama

In addition to directing and writing Alice and Therese’s Illusory Factory, Okada is also writing a novel of the same story.
