Writer/director Mari Okada, director Tatsuyuki Nagai and artist Masayoshi Tanaka previously worked on titles like Toradora!, anohana and more, quickly gaining the moniker of the Super Peace Busters thanks to anohana. Now they’re reuniting to work on a new original anime film from studio CloverWorks titled Fureru.
The project follows a trio of childhood friends who discover a mysterious creature, which pushes them to realize the bonds that connect them together. The tagline is “We learned the world’s secrets, and its pain…” Check out the teaser trailer and visual below.
Fureru is being directed by Tatsuyuki Nagai, with Okada on the script and Tanaka handling character designs. It’s currently planned for a theatrical premiere in Japan sometime in fall 2024.
