The second season of Netflix’s live-action One Piece adaptation will be here in 2026, and audiences have been given their very first real glimpse (not counting the back of his head) of what Tony Tony Chopper will look and sound like. Let’s check out the video!
Chopper First Look
Chopper is played by Mikaela Hoover, meaning that she both supplies his voice and her expressions are captured for his face.
SoraNews24 took a look at what Japanese fans thought by going over the YouTube comments under the Japanese Chopper sneak peek. According to them, most of the response is positive. They shared a few of the remarks:
“I figured it was going to be hard to pull Chopper off in live-action, and looking at still images I still feel that way, but the way he moves and talks brings him closer to the anime version’s cuteness level.”
“It’d be an exaggeration to say he’s as cute as the anime and manga versions, but I love how they’re keeping his mannerisms true to the original work. Looking forward to this.”
“Gonna have to mentally prepare myself to see them dive into the sad backstory for Chopper when he looks this cute.”
Other actors joining in for season two include Callum Kerr playing Smoker, Julia Rehwald playing Tashigi, Rigo Sanchez playing Dragon, Charithra Chandran playing Miss Wednesday, Joe Manganiello playing Mr. 0, Lera Abova playing Miss All Sunday, Sendhil Ramamurthy playing Nefertari Cobra, Yonda Thomas playing Igaram, David Dastmalchian playing Mr. 3, Sophia Anne Caruso playing Miss Goldenweek, Jazzara Jaslyn playing Miss Valentine, Camrus Johnson playing Mr. 5, Daniel Lasker playing Mr. 9, Clive Russell playing Crocus, Werner Coetser playing Dorry, Brendan Murray playing Brogy, and Katey Sagal playing Dr. Kureha.
Season two will adapt the following parts of the story: Loguetown, Reverse Mountain and Twin Cape, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island.
VIZ Media publishes the original One Piece manga by Eiichiro Oda (who is also involved with the Netflix adaptation). It gave this description for the first volume:
One Piece Plot
As a child, Monkey D. Luffy was inspired to become a pirate by listening to the tales of the buccaneer “Red-Haired” Shanks. But his life changed when Luffy accidentally ate the Gum-Gum Devil Fruit and gained the power to stretch like rubber…at the cost of never being able to swim again! Years later, still vowing to become the king of the pirates, Luffy sets out on his adventure…one guy alone in a rowboat, in search of the legendary “One Piece,” said to be the greatest treasure in the world…
