Laputa: Castle in the Sky Gets a Gorgeous, Rare (and Expensive!) Watch

2021 is the 35th anniversary of Hayao Miyazaki’s Laputa: Castle in the Sky film, and Japanese company Seiko is coming out with a special, limited edition watch for it.

On the watch’s face you can see the emblem from Sheeta’s pendant. The same symbol is seen on the watch’s crown. Flip it over and you can see the actual castle in the sky, plus read the words “Leetay Latuparita Ulus Aria Los Balu Netoreel” which is translated as “Help me, resurrection of the light.”

The watch comes in a box that also has an image of the castle in the sky below its lid, and a card with a Miyazaki quote: “Let’s live without being bound by time.”

The watch won’t be easy to get, though. The limited edition consists of 1,200 watches, and it goes for a price of 165,000 yen (about $1,489.84). It will officially go up for sale on July 23.
