It’s the end of an era for the Kyoani&DoShop!, which was previously converted into a workspace for animators after the arson attack on Kyoto Animation Studio 1. The online store remains, but with more incoming staff that need a place to work, Kyoto Animation has announced that the physical store will be closed permanently.
Here’s what Kyoto Animation’s official statement has to say on the matter:
“It was a tough decision for us to close the space where many fans and friends had given us sincere, warm thoughts and sympathy. We now have more staffs joined, shared with the same vision. Therefore, we determined to reconstruct the store space into a workplace to provide more sufficient work and meet the fans’ requests. We truly appreciate your kind understanding.”

Fans of Kyoto Animation may have lost a pilgrimage spot, but it’s nice to see workers getting another dedicated space to make their magic.
