Kuroko’s Basketball Extra Game, Compilation Films Announced

Kuroko’s Basketball is preparing to settle in for a extended occupation of Japanese movie theaters.

The games will begin in 2016 with a series of three compilation films summarizing the events of the Kuroko’s anime series, which ran from 2009 to 2014. They’ll then go into overtime in 2017 with the film Extra Game, an adaptation of the manga of the same name.

Today the titles and dates for each of the compilation films were announced:

  • Winter Cup Sōshū-hen ~Kage to Hikari~ (Winter Cup Compilation ~Shadow and Light~) – September 3
  • Winter Cup Sōshū-hen ~Namida no Saki e~ (Winter Cup Compilation ~Beyond Tears~) – October 8
  • Winter Cup Sōshū-hen ~Tobira no Mukō~ (Winter Cup Compilation ~Crossing the Door~) – December 3

The release date of the new film, Extra Game, has not yet been revealed.

The manga Extra Game focuses on events that take place a year after the Winter Cup, when a Japanese dream team takes on an American basketball squad called Team Jabberwock.

Here’s looking forward to it.
