BLAME! and Knights of Sidonia creator Tsutomu Nihei previously teamed up with Polygon Pictures once again for the Kaina of the Great Snow Sea anime. The series also inspired a manga adaptation by Itoe Takemoto, and now an end date is in place.
According to the July issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine, the Kaina of the Great Snow Sea manga adaptation will end on June 26, which is when the next issue hits stands in Japan.
The manga, which launched in the magazine in February 2022, is available to read via Crunchyroll. The anime on which it was based followed in January 2023, and the film—Kaina of the Great Snow Sea: Star Sage—opened in Japan on October 13, 2023.
Crunchyroll streams the anime and film and describes the series like so:
Humanity’s remnants struggle to survive above the planet atop giant orbital spire trees, safe from the danger below. Rendered unlivable, the Great Snow Sea has turned the world into a no man’s land. While out hunting, young Kaina stumbles upon an unconscious girl who’s floated up from the surface. The discovery of this trespasser brings new hope for mankind’s future—and unimaginable danger!
