Japanese Schools Get Free Preview of Heaven’s Design Team Anime

The folks behind the Heaven’s Design Team TV anime are looking to promote the series across Japan ahead of its January 7 premiere, and one of the ways they’re doing so is through schools. Thanks to the popularity of pre-screenings of the first episode, the previews have moved on to Japanese schools, giving students a chance to check out the anime before it airs.

Schools and libraries in Japan can now request a DVD of episode 1 until December 25, and they’ll be able to show it for free to students until January 6.

If you’re just now reading about the series yourself, you can watch a preview of the anime—which adapts the workplace comedy manga by Hebi-Zou and Tsuta Suzuki—below.

Soichi Masui is directing the series at Asahi Production, and broadcast plans include airings on TOKYO MX, MBS, TV Aichi, AT-X, and BS Fuji.

Kodansha Comics publishes the manga in English and describes it like so:

In Heaven’s Animal Design Department, designers create a variety of new animals daily while contending with the unreasonable requests of their client: God. Funny, interesting, and full of useful information, this series answers questions such as, “Why can’t unicorns exist?”, “What makes an animal taste delicious?”, “What’s the most powerful creature in the ocean?”, and, “Bird versus snake: who would win?” You won’t believe it’s a manga series when you read up on the featured animals in the included encyclopedia entries. Heaven’s Design Team will make your next trip to the zoo or aquarium 100 times more fun!
