The nominees for the 2024 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards have been unveiled by Comic-Con International! Let’s see what manga are involved.
In the category Best U.S. Edition of International Material—Asia, five manga are nominated:
#DRCL midnight children by Shin’ichi Sakamoto
Goodbye, Eri by Tatsuki Fujimoto
My Picture Diary by Maki Fujiwara
River’s Edge by Kyoko Okazaki
The Summer Hikaru Died by Mokumokuren
The final title nominated in this category is the Korean comic The Horizon by JH.
Some other manga and otaku titles received nominations in other categories.
My Girlfriend’s Child by Mamoru Aoi is nominated for Best Publication for Teens.
The Yakuza’s Bias by Teki Yatsuda is nominated for Best Humor Publication.
#DRCL midnight children, which is inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula, is also nominated for Best Adaptation From Another Medium. So is The Shadow Over Innsmouth by Gou Tanabe, based on a H.P. Lovecraft story of the same name.
Mokumokuren is in the running for Best Writer/Artist with the aforementioned The Summer Hikaru Died.
Orange Complete Series Box Set by Ichigo Takano is up for Best Graphic Album—Reprint.
Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun First Stall Box Set, with designs from Wendy Chan is nominated for Best Publication Design.
Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons by Frank Tieri and Inaki Miranda comes up twice. First, it’s a nominee for Best Limited Series. Second, Inaki Miranda is nominated for Best Penciller/Inker or Penciller/Inker Team.
In 2023, the Best U.S. Edition of International Material—Asia award was granted to Shuna’s Journey from Hayao Miyazaki.

Named for acclaimed comics creator Will Eisner, the awards are celebrating their 36th year of bringing attention to and highlighting the best publications and creators in comics and graphic novels. The 2024 Eisner Awards judging panel consists of educator/comics creator Ryan Claytor, author/editor/educator N. C. Christopher Couch, retailer/academic Andréa Gilroy, writer/editor Joseph Illidge, retailer Mathias Lewis, and author/public school librarian Jillian Rudes.
