haikyu!! final

The first of two Haikyu!! FINAL anime films open in Japan on February 16, 2024, with the team from the TV anime production returning for more volleyball action. While we wait for the rematch between Karasuno and Nekoma, nine new character visuals have arrived to give us another longing look at the cast.

If you missed it, a new trailer recently made its way online.

This movie was written and directed by Susumu Mitsunaka, who also worked on the first and third Haikyu!! TV anime series. We originally got word of these two movies in late summer of 2022, and the film due out in February is about a “fated showdown” happening with Karasuno High against Nekoma High.

The Haikyu!! manga debuted in 2011 and quickly found a large following. In addition to the anime series and these movies, the franchise includes compilation anime movies, a short done in clay, video anime, and more than one stage play. The anime series debuted in 2014, three years after the manga, and was created by Production I.G.

VIZ Media publishes the original Haikyu!! manga in English and gave this description for its plot in the first volume:

After losing his first and last volleyball match against Tobio Kageyama, “the King of the Court,” Shoyo Hinata swears to become his rival after graduating middle school. But what happens when the guy he wants to defeat ends up being his teammate?!

If people want to read the manga digitally, they additionally have the option of reading it on MANGA Plus. VIZ also released the manga digitally the same time it was coming out in Japan, showing how popular it was for that sort of speed.
