Haikyu!! FINAL Anime Film Shares New Trailer

haikyu!! final

It’s almost time for the Battle at the Garbage Dump, as the first of two Haikyu!! FINAL anime films is right around the corner. The first opens in Japan on February 16, and ahead of that TOHO animation shared a new trailer with fresh footage and a sample of the “Orange” theme song by SPYAIR.

The first film is titled Gekijoban Haikyu!! Gomisubeta no Kessen, which translates to Haikyu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump.

This movie was written and directed by Susumu Mitsunaka, who also worked on the first and third Haikyu!! TV anime series. We originally got word of these two movies in late summer of 2022, and the film due out in February is about a “fated showdown” happening with Karasuno High against Nekoma High.

The Haikyu!! manga debuted in 2011 and quickly found a large following. In addition to the anime series and these movies, the franchise includes compilation anime movies, a short done in clay, video anime, and more than one stage play. The anime series debuted in 2014, three years after the manga, and was created by Production I.G.

VIZ Media publishes the original Haikyu!! manga in English and gave this description for its plot in the first volume:

After losing his first and last volleyball match against Tobio Kageyama, “the King of the Court,” Shoyo Hinata swears to become his rival after graduating middle school. But what happens when the guy he wants to defeat ends up being his teammate?!
