Anime publisher AnimEigo is on a crowdfunding roll, and the next high-quality remaster they’re looking to fund is Gunsmith Cats, a fan favorite from the 90s.
Based on the manga by Kenichi Sonoda, Gunsmith Cats was a three-episode OVA released between 1995 and 1996 in Japan. Taking place in the same universe as Sonoda’s Riding Bean, Gunsmith Cats tells the tale of Rally and Minnie, roommates who work as bounty hunters on the mean streets of Chicago.
AnimEigo’s planned remaster is titled Gunsmith Cats Explosive Edition, and fans can begin the Kickstarting March 24.
Pledges start at $5, which gets you some digital art and production materials, and go up to $10,000, which nabs you, among many other items, some original artwork by creator Kenichi Sonoda based on your own suggestion.
Goodies at other pledge levels include the remastered Blu-ray, natch, plus a hardcover artbook, patches, challenge coins, keychains and more.
AnimEigo is hoping to bring in $75,000 for production of the Explosive Edition, and Stretch Goals include a commentary track by Kenichi Sonoda and others and a new short Gunsmith Cats manga.
If successfully funded, the remaster is expected to ship in March 2019.
