Gintama Anime Shows Off 20th Anniversary Project Visual

gintama 20th anniversary
The Gintama 20th anniversary project covers a ton of ground, with events running from 2023 to 2026 to celebrate the serialization of Hideaki Sorachi’s manga and the anime’s debut. Special events like theatrical screenings of the Thorny Arc episodes are just scratching the surface, and to mark today’s birthday of protagonist Gintoki Sakata, a special visual has been released.

The 20th anniversary memorial visual is a callback to the illustration at the start of the first chapter of Sorachi’s manga, and you can see it above.

Beyond that, there’s also the series’ first live concert, Gintama SOUND ULTRA SOUL! ’24, which kicks off at Zepp DiverCity in Tokyo on February 11, 2024. This follows an earlier cancellation due to COVID-19 back when the concert was supposed to hit the stage in summer 2020. Check out the concert visual:

Crunchyroll streams the Gintama anime and describes it:

In a world where aliens have invaded Edo Period Japan, skyscrapers, trains and motor bikes have replaced the simple life of Earth inhabitants. One man however, still carries the soul of a samurai, Gintoki Sakata, otherwise known as Yorozuya Gin-san. As reckless as he is, Gintoki carries his own resolve and is ready to take on any challenge with his fellow companions.
