Before the live-action Hollywood Ghost in the Shell movie comes out, we’ll be able to revisit Mamoru Oshii’s classic 1995 anime film that inspired it. Funimation and Lionsgate are bringing the first Ghost in the Shell movie back to 110 U.S. theaters for a limited engagement, with screenings planned for February 7 and 8.
The Ghost in the Shell screenings will be available in Japanese with English subtitles on the first day, followed by showings of the English-dubbed version. You can see if it’s playing near you and pick up tickets over at the official website.
Synopsis:
In the year 2029, cybernetic government agent, Major Motoko Kusanagi and the Internal Bureau of Investigations are hot on the trail of “The Puppet Master”—a mysterious and threatening computer virus is capable of infiltrating human hosts. Working closely with her fellow agents from Section 9, the Major embarks on a high-tech race against time to capture the omnipresent entity.
