Eren Jaeger Voice Actor’s Baby Played Role in Final Special

attack on titan

Last weekend’s Attack on Titan Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS (a.k.a. Shingeki no Kyojin The Final Season Kanketsu-hen in Japanese) featured the acting debut of voice actors Yuuki Kaji and Ayana Taketatsu’s baby. Kaji plays Eren Jaeger in the series. Taketatsu’s voice credits include playing Bambietta Basterbine in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, Kei Karuizawa in Classroom of the Elite, and Azusa Nakano in K-ON!.

The baby didn’t have any lines — it was just the sound of crying. Kaji took care of recording the baby and sending along clips to Masafumi Mima, the anime’s sound director. The people behind Attack on Titan thought it was fitting to use the baby’s voice to go with the finale’s themes of “inheritance” and “succession.”

We first learned of Kaji and Taketatsu’s marriage in 2019, and on November 3, 2022, almost a year to the day, they revealed that their baby had been born. Not much has been revealed about the baby, like its name or sex, but you can listen to its debut at 27:50 minutes into the special.

Kodansha USA publishes the original Attack on Titan manga in English, and gave this description for it:

A century ago, the grotesque giants known as Titans appeared and consumed all but a few thousand humans. The survivors took refuge behind giant walls. Today, the threat of the Titans is a distant memory, and a boy named Eren yearns to explore the world beyond Wall Maria. But what began as a childish dream will become an all-too-real nightmare when the Titans return and humanity is once again on the brink of extinction…

Attack on Titan is the award-winning and New York Times-bestselling series that is the manga hit of the decade! Spawning the monster hit anime TV series of the same name, Attack on Titan has become a pop culture sensation.
