The 2019 Dororo anime—which adapts the manga of the same name by Osamu Tezuka—is about to get a new home. HIDIVE announced plans to stream the series from Tezuka Productions and MAPPA in January 2023, both with the previously-released subtitled version and in dubbed form streaming for the very first time.
The Dororo anime is directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi (Hunter x Hunter) and written by Yasuko Kobayashi (Attack on Titan). Sentai Filmworks originally produced the English dub for the home video release of the series, with Adam Gibbs (Tokyo Ghoul:re) leading the cast as Hyakkimaru alongside Chaney Moore (Food Wars!) as Dororo.
Synopsis:
During the Warring States period, the young thief Dororo encounters the enigmatic Hyakkimaru, a strange sightless boy who wields fearsome prosthetics in place of his missing limbs. Parts of Hyakkimaru’s body, skin and organs were traded to a group of 12 demons by his father in exchange for power and prosperity. Thanks to a kindly medicine man, Hyakkimaru survived this horrifying ordeal and now wanders the land in search of his missing body parts. Together, he and Dororo will fight to survive in a demon-plagued, dangerous and unforgiving world.
