Documentary About Hand-Drawn Animation Starts Crowdfunding Campaign

Documentary About Hand-Drawn Animation Starts Crowdfunding CampaignHand-Drawn: Documentary, a documentary film about, well, hand-drawn animation, has started crowdfunding to help cover its production costs.

The campaign is being hosted on Japanese crowdfunding site Motion Gallery, but those outside Japan can contribute too. The goal is 1 million yen, or about $9,000.

The film features animators like Mamoru Hosoda, Mitsuo Iso, Toshiyuki Inoue, Masashi Ando and more. In short, some of the best hand-drawn animators working today.

Here’s how the team behind the film describe it:

“Hand-Drawn: Documentary” is an upcoming feature-length documentary about hand-drawn animation today. Featuring interviews of both independent and mainstream animators from all different corners around the world. We want to finish this unique film about this incredible art form, as told by its talented artists, and release it to the world (including having the option for Japanese subtitles)!

Definitely hoping this one reaches its funding goal! Click over to the official page for more info.
