Disney+ is coming strong with anime content, including the fresh announcement of an expanded partnership with publisher Kodansha that nets them the new season of the Tokyo Revengers anime. Beyond that, Disney+ revealed a slate of upcoming anime, which includes a reboot, an adaptation and a trio of original projects.
Here’s an overview of what’s on the way:
PHOENIX: EDEN17 is a new take on Osamu Tezuka’s Phoenix manga featuring production by STUDIO4ºC and a worldwide 2023 premiere window.
We previously posted about the SYNDUALITY anime project, and that one is also coming to Disney+ worldwide in 2023. Check out the new teaser trailer, which reveals director Yuusuke Yamamoto, character designer/chief animation director Kenichirou Katsua and more at studio eightbit.
Rom-com series Murai no Koi (Murai in Love)—based on the manga by Junta Shima—has yet to reveal most details, but will stream worldwide. Check out the anime adaptation visual below.
JUJUTSU KAISEN and The God of High School director Sunghoo Park is also on board with an original series tentatively titled Project BULLET/BULLET. Apparently Park has been working on the story for this one for 10 years, so we’ll definitely have to stay tuned for more info. You can see a concept visual at the top of the article and below.
Live-action Tokyo Ghoul director Kentaro Hagiwara is on board for a live-action and animated “fantasy blockbuster” titled Dragons of Wonderhatch, due out sometime in winter 2023. Takashi Ootsuka (One Piece Stampede) is animation director and the project features character designs by THE PROMISED NEVERLAND‘s Posuka Demizu, with animation by Production I.G.
Here’s some concept art by Demizu:
There’s also a sizzle trailer showing clips from the production:
