Boruto Episode Director Wants to Fight Harassment in Anime Industry

anime industry

Taiki Nishimura is a pretty successful anime director and has done episode directing for Boruto, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny, Ergo Proxy, The Seven Deadly Sins: Imperial Wrath of The Gods, Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens and more. Four years ago he revealed that, despite his success, he was only making about $900 a month on an anime.

This week, Nishimura declared he would be working to fix the problems in the anime industry.

“When I told lawyers that my anime work doesn’t involve a contract, they were all shocked,” he wrote. “I want to do my best to help straighten out this industry which is rife with sexual harassment and power harassment. By doing that, I’d be out of a job (awkward smile). I want to rectify the problems with the help of the Directors Guild of Japan.”

Nishimura has been part of the anime industry for more than two decades. The Animator Dormitory is also working to better the lives of workers in anime, and just launched a new video about it.
