The best way to make sure a theme park attraction is faithful is to let the stars of its source material experience it for themselves. That’s exactly what went down at Universal Studios Japan on June 22 when seven of the lead voice actors from the Attack on Titan anime swooped in to experience the Attack on Titan: The Real 3D live theater attraction.
Levi voice actor Hiroshi Kamiya had apparently been dreaming of visiting USJ with his fellow cast members, and that dream came true on Saturday when he showed up along with Yuki Kaji (Eren Yeager), Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa Ackerman), Marina Inoue (Armin Arlert), Shiori Mikami (Krista Lenz), Tomohisa Hashizume (Bertolt Hoover), and Saki Fujita (Ymir).
Here they are at the entrance to USJ:
Meeting their life-size counterparts:
Trying the Survey Corps-inspired menu at Finnegan’s Bar & Grill:
Outside the attraction:
And providing autographs for their character posters:
Eren voice actor Yuki Kaji had the following to say after the experience:
“I am impressed by its volume and high quality that surpassed my expectation. Not only the attraction, the experiences that visitors could feel the world of Attack on Titan from many angles were offered in various timelines. I strongly felt the great love for Attack on Titan from Universal Studios Japan.”
Mikasa VA Yui Ishikawa’s comments”
It was the first time for me to put the the vertical maneuvering equipment on, it was more difficult to handle than I expected. I was fascinated by the skills of the crew who performed great actions with such equipment on the stage.”
